Kirsten Hughes-Pilutti is a Healthcare Paralegal at Kondori & Moorad, LLP. She assists with the healthcare, residential, administrative, and transitional responsibilities that arise when the firm serves in guardianship, conservatorship, and other fiduciary capacities.
When the firm is first appointed as a fiduciary, Kirsten helps establish the administrative foundation for the matter. She gathers information, develops the individual’s file, communicates with family members and professionals, obtains records, and helps identify the healthcare, financial, identification, benefits, and residential issues requiring immediate attention.
Kirsten works directly with hospitals and care facilities in reviewing care plans and coordinating transitions from hospitals to rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living communities, and other long-term-care settings. She assists with admissions, transfer documentation, placement requirements, service arrangements, and communication among the professionals involved in the individual’s care.
Her responsibilities also include working with family members, financial advisors, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Motor Vehicles, healthcare providers, and government agencies to ensure that records are updated and that necessary administrative steps are completed following a fiduciary appointment.
Kirsten’s work requires the ability to organize substantial information from different sources while keeping the individual’s immediate and long-term needs in view. She helps ensure that healthcare decisions, placement arrangements, benefits, personal records, and family communications remain coordinated as circumstances change.
She also manages administrative responsibilities following the death of individuals served by the firm. This includes communicating with hospitals, medical examiners, morgues, funeral homes, cemeteries, families, and local government agencies to assist with final arrangements, documentation, transfer of personal effects, and other required steps.
Kirsten has additional experience in probate and trust administration. That background provides her with an understanding of how incapacity-related matters may transition into estate or trust administration following death.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Virginia Tech and minored in Leadership through the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. She later earned a Paralegal Certificate from Duke University after developing professional experience in government contracting, account management, and project management.
Kirsten is a member of the National Guardianship Association and a commissioned Virginia Notary Public.
