Riya Hadvani, NCG, is a Healthcare Paralegal at Kondori & Moorad, LLP. Her work focuses on the healthcare, residential, financial, benefits, and administrative issues that arise when the firm serves as guardian, conservator, or in another fiduciary capacity for an incapacitated adult.
Riya communicates regularly with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living communities, retirement communities, physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals. She assists with medical-care coordination, discharge planning, residential placement, transitions between care settings, and the continuing implementation of care plans.
An important part of Riya’s role involves communicating with executives and administrative leadership at hospitals, long-term-care facilities, and retirement communities. These relationships help ensure that institutional providers and the firm maintain a shared understanding of the incapacitated adult’s care needs, available financial resources, decision-making authority, placement status, and ongoing plan of support.
Her work helps reduce gaps in communication among fiduciaries, healthcare providers, facility administrators, families, and other professionals. By maintaining clear and continuing dialogue, she assists in resolving concerns before they disrupt care and helps ensure that decisions are implemented consistently across the different organizations involved in an individual’s life.
When the firm is first appointed, Riya assists with gathering records, notifying providers and agencies, confirming benefits and income, and coordinating the transition of legal and administrative authority. She communicates with the Social Security Administration and other government agencies to help ensure that benefits and records are properly updated following an appointment.
Riya is also developing experience in Medicaid applications, Annual Guardianship Reports, probate administration, and other areas that frequently intersect with guardianship and conservatorship matters. This expanding knowledge allows her to better understand the relationship among healthcare, public benefits, financial administration, court reporting, and post-death proceedings.
Before entering the legal field, Riya worked in a retail pharmacy for four years, further developing her understanding of patient services, medications, insurance processes, and healthcare delivery. During her undergraduate studies, she gained experience at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in the Quality and Safety Department and in Operating Room Administration. Her work provided exposure to healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality assurance, and administrative decision-making.
Riya earned her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Radford University. She is a member of the National Guardianship Association and a commissioned Virginia Notary Public. Riya is also a National Certified Guardian licensed through the Center for Guardianship Certification.
